Archives of St. Andrew's

The Rev. Dr. Peter J. Darch Memorial Archives
St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Guelph

St. Andrew's archives is a unique collection of records which date back to 1827, one year before our church was officially founded. The purpose of the archives is to collect and preserve the documented history of our church. The archives consists of the noncurrent records of the church which have been selected and maintained because of their continuing administrative, legal, or research value. They are made available to serious researchers subject to some restrictions on access.

In organizing our collection we have adopted the model which our national archives uses; that is, we use the same record groups and series as they do.

The record groups are:
1. Board of Managers
2. Committees
3. Congregation
4. Ministers and Students
5. Organizations
6. Publications and Histories
7. Session
8. Sunday School (Sabbath School)
9. Vital Statistics
10. Artifacts
11. Photographs

Within each record group the following series may occur:

Financial records:
Minute books, annual reports, general ledgers and journals

Bibliographical records:
Newspapers articles, scrapbooks, personal correspondence

Publications and cartographic records:
Slides, portraits, photographs, architectural plans

Vital records:
Marriage registers, communion rolls, birth and baptismal registers, funeral records

Dinnerware, records, trophies, communion tokens, et cetera

All materials are stored in acid-free folders and boxes.
If you are researching your family history, we may have the information you are looking for.
