Week 8 – The Me and White Supremacy Virtual Pilgrimage

***Content Warning*** Author Layla Saad suggests a content warning as one shares the next few weeks as the material that is dealt with may be triggering for BIPOC. We are moving from concepts and reflections on one’s personal experience to the very real acts of racism that BIPOC face all too often.

Reopening Plans and Guidelines

REOPENING Plans and Guidelines – Monday September 27, 2021
On Tuesday September 21, 2021, the Session decided to invite the congregation to return to in-person worship beginning on Sunday October 3. After 18 LONG months of “exile”, we are delighted to be able to extend this invitation to you! The safety of our staff, volunteers, members, and guests remains our TOP priority. To that end, we will continue to follow all the guidelines and advice we receive from Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health.

We have created fuller guidelines for you to review prior to deciding to attend worship in-person at St. Andrew’s Guelph below.

But here is the “COLES NOTES” version (showing my age):

  • As we begin to reopen to in-person worship, we are not requiring that attendees pre-register;
  • For the safety of our community and yourself, we would encourage you to self-screen for COVID prior to attending. If you feel unwell, please stay home;
  • Wearing masks will be required for the whole time that you are in the building;
  • Using our Church Directory, our screeners will “Check You In” and make sure that you have reviewed the COVID screening poster and the note encouraging full vaccination that is posted at the entrances. You will not be asked questions nor required to show proof of vaccination to gain entry;
  • Seating will be limited. Families can sit together and our screeners will assist you to find a seat;
  • The Sunday Experience will be different – there will be NO Church School, NO Coffee Hour, NO congregational singing nor a Choir.
  • We’d also encourage you to arrive EARLY as the screening process takes a little longer.

On Sunday October 3rd, we will be celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion (using individual pre-filled communion cups with wafers for safety) and also recognizing some of our elders whose terms concluded in June and two others who have officially retired from service on Session.

We look forward to worshipping with some of you in-person as well as continuing to maintain our virtual options via ZOOM and YouTube. Our community now included both in-person attendees and online ones. We will continue to explore ways to bring both “worlds” together as we worship the One who holds all worlds in their hands.

Grace and peace,

Rev. John Borthwick
