• Ages 7-8
• We meet Wednesdays at 6:15 pm
for an hour and a half
• We meet at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church
Corner of Norfolk and Suffolk Streets in Downtown Guelph, Ontario

- Brownies are the second level of "Girl Guides of Canada"
- Throughout our program we provide girls with a nurturing environment where they can build valuable life skills and learn how to grow up and be good citizens to the world around them!
- By being a Brownie, girls learn to focus on the importance of lending a hand to one another, learning survival skills for camping adventures and how to be a good friend!

History of Girl Guides of Canada
It all began in 1909 when girls in England demanded to take part in a Boy Scouts rally organized by Lord Baden-Powell at the Crystal Palace in London. Baden-Powell was impressed and he asked his sister Agnes to create a program just for girls. This was the beginning of Guiding.

By 1910 the Guiding Movement had reached Canada and the first unit was formed in St. Catherine's Ontario. By 1912, there were units in every province and many of Canada's more forward-thinking women banded together to form the Canadian Girl Guides Association.

Branches of Girl Guides:

• Sparks (Ages 5-6)
• Brownies (Ages 7-8)
• Guides (Ages 9-11)
• Pathfinders (Ages 12-14)
• Rangers (Ages 15-17)
• Adults (Ages 18 +)

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church has been very generous in reaching out to support the Girl Guides of Canada by giving the 8th Guelph Brownies a nice home for our meetings every week. We thank the church for its generosity!

Any parent is always welcome to bring their daughter to one of our meetings at anytime during the school year to see if Brownies would be a program that would interest her.
We always welcome new girls between the ages of 7-8 to our unit!
